Characterizing the spatiotemporal deformation pattern of White Island (Whakaari) volcano, New Zealand

White Island (Whakaari) is New Zealand's most active volcano. Understanding how the volcano deforms spatially and temporally can provide insight into the dynamic subsurface processes that occur pre-, syn-, and post-eruptive periods. For example, pre-eruptive signatures of inflation or deflation related to magma injection or changes in the hydrothermal system, flank movement, and how rocks and newly erupted material are deforming.
Goals

Determine the spatiotemporal deformation pattern at White Island volcano using InSAR time-series analysis.

Identify the underlying subsurface processes that explain the observed deformation.
